Researchers, Academics, Practitioners, and Students

We seek to continue to work with other researchers, academics, practitioners, and students. We want you to share your experiences with the PUSKAPA team. We will both benefit from the exchange of ideas and resources. In addition, our infrastructure and network will expand for us to explore new solutions toward equal opportunity for all.

Research and Faculty Affiliates

The affiliated researcher or faculty in PUSKAPA is a researcher, professor, or fellow from a national or international think tank or academic institution. They conduct research and publish the results in reputable journals or teach topics relevant to PUSKAPA’s organizational mission and focus areas. They work with PUSKAPA on research, policy outreach, publications, and training and usually have established funding to support their work. Affiliates also work together with PUSKAPA in securing resources for future relevant work.

Our Practicum Program

Indonesian and international students, especially graduate students, can apply to undertake their practicum in PUSKAPA as a required component of their pursued degree. Under coordination with their faculty advisor and according to their school regulations, students will select PUSKAPA as their practicum site and plan for their practicum experience in PUSKAPA as their host organization. They will work on research, analysis, and publications on a topic relevant to PUSKAPA’s organizational mission and focus areas for two months minimum.

Learn to Work at PUSKAPA

Indonesian undergraduate students, who are at least in their sixth semester, can apply to this flagship program. This program invites prospective undergraduates to learn by doing work. For four months, PUSKAPA mentors will guide the selected participants to contribute directly to research, advocacy, and management activities in line with the organizational mission and focus areas of PUSKAPA.

In Alumni’s Words

Bioethics Student,

During my time as a practicum student at PUSKAPA, I was given the opportunity to take lead on matters that were specifically interesting for me. I was able to leadathe youth engagement program by leading meetings and presentations. I was able to maintain close mentorship with my supervisor during my time at PUSKAPA that allowed me to receive immediate feedback, while also communicating my interests and goals. It is difficult to gauge what “practicum goals” can be because every graduate student has varied requirements for the most part.

When I look back at my time at PUSKAPA for the years to come, I will undoubtedly have two thoughts; a) WOW and b) I wish all my international experiences are as half as intriguing as being in PUSKAPA was. Upon arriving I was immediately enamored with the people and the office environment. It became clear, very quickly, that those at PUSKAPA are there for one reason and one reason only, to effect change in Indonesia. The office operates at a level that is not just effecting change in real time, but at a level of efficiency that I hadn’t experienced before.

What a memorable first internship! My assignments are always met with detailed feedback and evaluations from the mentors. The fact that they do not forget to evaluate and give feedback while appreciating our work made us feel like we could grow and do better on our next assignments without feeling belittled.

Working and learning with PUSKAPA is one of the most exciting experiences I have ever had. PUSKAPA reminded me that we don’t just work for the rest of our lives after uni. There are also opportunities to learn how to continuously open our eyes, hearts, and minds so we won’t forget the things we need to fight for.
