Relocation of Disaster-Affected Communities: It is More than Just Physical Change

In his thesis, Dicky Pelupessy discusses the importance of understanding local context and community’s connection to their residence in the relocation process. He will present his study, which was done in the aftermath of Merapi disaster on 2010, and bring the evidence that deeper understanding on every community’s aspect, including socio-cultural aspect, will help facilitate the community relocation process, particularly for the vulnerable groups.
