Approach and Values

Our commitment to data-based approach results inseparable with our dedication to create change.

Research and inter-disciplinary thinking underpin our policy proposals and actions.

We work with scientific rigor, ethics, and awareness to always mitigate our limitations.

We believe that formulating policies alone is not enough. Changes are realized through effective and accountable governance, so we help build it. Such a governance is run by people with capacities and supported by social norms that prioritize human rights.

Effective work is collaborative work. We work with partners with diverse strengths to complement each other.

We use a two-pronged approach to social inclusion, namely 1) undertake specific work that focuses on social inclusion issues and 2) ensure we integrate inclusive values in our work (mainstreaming).

We implement risk mitigation by a) building an understanding of excluded groups and what they experience, b) supporting the participation of individuals with diverse abilities and identities.

We are intentional in our research, advocacy, establishing relationships, and convening various interests.

We always try to strengthen our empathy, compassion, and personal and organizational resilience because no change happens overnight.

We apply a social justice lens in thinking and doing guided by the questions:

What determines child adversities and what are the long-term effects?

What facilitates children to emerge from adversities?

Who have the least access and are most affected by inequities in health, education, protection, and care services?

Who are excluded because of their social identity (gender, religion, ethnicity, disability, etc.) and how does such an exclusion occur and can be mitigated?

How do systems and services respond to the specific needs of children and vulnerable groups, and what hinders and supports them?
